Pop singer Alsou Safina is to become the face of a well-known Japanese watchmaker, the daily Zhizn reports. Representatives from the company's St. Petersburg office said they didn't expect Alsou to accept their offer so soon, since up to now she had summarily declined all advertisement proposals.

"I want to begin my career in the advertising business with something I've tested myself," Alsou said. "I've been wearing this brand's watches since childhood," she added. Alsou used the money she received under the contract with the watchmaker to buy a present for her father: a collection of rare books and a ticket for a tour around the United Arab Emirates.

In the meantime, between photo sessions Alsou managed to pass all her exams with the highest honors at the State Institute of Theater Art, GITIS, where she is a second-year student in the acting department. In the near future, she will proceed with her curriculum project - the role of Juliet in a production of William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet." Alsou will be featured on the watchmaker's billboards throughout Russia.
